What Colour Planter Should I Choose?

Choosing a planter colour can have a significant impact on the overall appearance of a garden, terrace or commercial space. Some colours are designed to blend into their surroundings, while others are chosen to create a feature and add contrast.

Discover popular planter colours, learn how colour affects the overall look of a project and explore options using our RAL colour visualiser.

Matching Existing Features

Many people choose planter colours that complement nearby features such as window frames, doors, fencing, paving or outdoor furniture. Coordinating colours can help create a more unified design.

Popular Planter Colours

Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016), Black (RAL 9005) and White (RAL 9016) remain among the most frequently selected planter colours. These neutral shades work well across a wide range of modern and traditional settings.

Creating Contrast or Blending In

A planter does not always need to match its surroundings. Some projects use contrasting colours to create a focal point, while others use subtle tones that allow the planting to take centre stage.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I choose any RAL colour for a planter?

Yes. We can powder coat planters in any standard RAL colour. The full range can be viewed on our website and includes over 200 colours, from whites, creams and yellows through to oranges, greens, blues, greys and black.

Can I have my planter powder coated in a Farrow & Ball colour?

No. Farrow & Ball colours are proprietary paint colours rather than standard RAL colours. While some RAL colours may be similar, it is generally not possible to achieve an exact Farrow & Ball colour match using standard powder coating colours.

Do colours look different on screen?

Yes. Screen settings, lighting conditions and surrounding materials can affect how colours appear. A visualiser is useful for comparing options, but colours may appear slightly different in real-world conditions.
