Yes. Whilst most of the planters we manufacture have a base, we also regularly make baseless planters for customers who want the appearance of a metal planter without restricting root growth.
The Advantages Of A Baseless Planter
Baseless planters are most commonly used when positioned directly onto existing soil. They allow roots to grow into the ground below and are particularly popular for larger shrubs, hedging and small trees. We often find customers combine standard and baseless planters within the same project to maintain a consistent appearance.
How We Build Baseless Planters
Although there is no base, a baseless planter costs exactly the same as a standard planter. To maintain rigidity, we install additional strengthening components including corner reinforcement plates and crossbars. Whilst this uses slightly less metal, it actually takes longer to manufacture.
Can All Planters Be Made Without A Base?
In most cases, yes. Many of our rectangular, square, window box, tapered and L-shaped planters can be manufactured without a base.
