Anthracite Grey Planters (RAL 7016)
RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey is the most popular planter colour we sell, accounting for roughly a third of the planters we manufacture. It is often the default choice for new-build homes, extensions and renovation projects, particularly where darker finishes have already been used elsewhere in the scheme. It is a strong colour without being quite as stark as black, which is one of the reasons it works in so many different gardens.

Why Is Anthracite Grey So Popular?
Anthracite Grey has become a familiar colour on modern homes. Many customers choose it for planters because it already appears elsewhere on the property, helping the garden feel connected to the building rather than treated as a separate space. It is especially common on contemporary homes, but it is not limited to big cities. We see RAL 7016 used just as often on rural renovations and modern country properties as we do on urban gardens.
What Does RAL 7016 Work Well With?
Anthracite Grey works well with porcelain paving, composite decking, aluminium detailing, rendered walls and darker fencing. From a planting point of view, it pairs well with olive trees, evergreen shrubs, ornamental grasses and clipped planting. The dark grey finish gives the foliage something to stand against, but it does not usually dominate the space.
Anthracite Grey Or Black?
Many customers narrow their choice down to Anthracite Grey or Jet Black. Anthracite Grey tends to feel slightly softer and is often chosen when the property already has a modern grey colour palette. Black gives stronger contrast and can feel more traditional or more dramatic. If you are unsure, RAL 7016 is often the safer default for a modern space.
